Food Safe Certification
Food Safe, a sanitation program for food handlers, is now a required course for anyone seeking to work as a food handler in the public sector. Designed for the average restaurant worker, topics include types and characteristics of germs, food-borne illnesses, personal hygiene and health, serving and dispensing, food protection and preparation, dishwashing methods, and receiving and storing food safely. Certificates, valid for 5 years, are issued by the BC Ministry of Health and take 5 to 6 weeks to process.
