What's Already Around: Nature & Upcycled Materials

A walk in nature may often inspire creativity. Whether it's a leaf laying on the ground as you pass by, or a special rock you find, a neat looking branch, a footprint in the mud, the way the waves move back and forth while watching the ocean. These moments can offer creative expression; whether it's taking a photo, painting what you see in nature, creating while in nature, utilizing items found from walks thru the woods or along the river, or even items found at home! Junk drawers, recycling bins, repurpose old clothing or jewelry, etc. all around us provides inspiration and opportunity to create! In this class we'll create with materials from nature and with items and materials we can find around us. Have some interesting materials you're inspired by? Bring it with you! The possibilities and inspiration are endless with materials we already have around us.

Mindful Moments & Mark Making

Within each moment we can learn or develop skills that support us in our own unique ways of being mindful, or present, of ourselves, our surroundings; living here and now within each moment. Learning and teaching oneself to always be mindful is very challenging or not always possible for some, over time and with practice finding time, even if only 5 minutes a day to start with then grow from there, or by finding the various activities that work for us where we may feel comfortable to be present in the moment, where we feel safe to allow authenticity and be present for the here and now. Creativity, however that looks for you can support moments of mindfulness, of presence through creative expression, thru making marks and intuitively following and trusting in your unique creative process.  In this class we explore a variety of materials, a variety of making marks, noticing how each art idea or activity resonates or doesn't resonate, taking what creative inspiration works for you and noticing what may not work for you within each moment. All materials provided and lots of art techniques and print outs to take with you to keep creating beyond class will be available.
