Special Events for 2008

This year we have several exciting endeavours planned with the longboats.

Longboat at the Tall Ships Festival

Cowichan Bay Classic Boat Festival - May 3

The "Old Salts" - our senior sailors - who have been hard at work refinishing the T'Sou-ke, are pleased to be taking her to Cowichan Bay in May for a day during the Classic Boat Festival. Our volunteers will be there to show off the T'Sou-ke, answer any questions, and take people out for a short row.

Doña Rosa at the Wooden Boats Festival

Tall Ships Victoria - June 26-29

This will be our second time taking part in the Victoria Tall Ships festival. We will accompany the Tall Ships as they sail into Victoria at noon on the 26th. Throughout the rest of the festival our volunteers will be on hand to answer questions, and we will be offering outings on the boats during the mock cannon battles. Come on down to the Inner Harbour and check it out! For more information about the event, click here to visit the Tall Ships Victoria web site.

Youth Sea Camps with SEAPARC - July 28-Aug 1 and Aug 18-22

This year we are collaborating with Sooke Electoral Area Parks and Recreation to offer two week-long maritime daycamps for youth aged 13-16 years. Stay tuned for more information as we finalize the details.

Lady Emily Row - Sep 21

As part of Sooke's celebrations to mark BC's 150th anniversary this year, the Monday Morning Women's longboating group will be donning their best gowns and rowing across to East Sooke to Ragley farm, 5717 East Sooke Road, for "High Tea" at the home where Lady Emily Walker once reigned.
