In 2008, School District #62 (Sooke), working in partnership with Legacies 2010, hired a Coordinator to meet with community members in the Sooke Region (Beecher Bay to Port Renfrew), gather input, form a steering committee and develop a regional literacy plan. The plan that was created can be viewed by clicking the following link: Sooke Community Literacy Plan.
The EMCS Community School Coordinator sits on the Literacy NOW Steering Committee for the Sooke Region, and recently worked with them to hire a Literacy Outreach Coordinator. Over the next year, the new Coordinator will work with community organizations and individuals to implement the Literacy Plan. We will continue to update this page as the plan progresses.
